When
a sow and boar are placed together I mark the date on the
calendar so I can monitor more precisely when I expect a litter
to arrive, usually between week 9 and 10. My sows are held
regularly so I know within a day or two when movement of the
babies can be felt. Approximately 7-10 days after I detect
their movement, I begin a daily check of the sows pelvis.
When the pelvic bones have expanded enough that there is room
for the end of my smallest finger to lie between them, my
sows deliver within 2-3 days. |
